It's also the only robot vacuum/mop that scored an absolute 10 out of 10 in our tests. This is thanks to the combination of high-tech sensors, including a structured lighting system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation on its own. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mop mops.

The X40 as with other iRobot products, is simple to use. It comes with an intuitive mobile application interface, and it is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only drawback is that the X40 still a noisy unit. This could be a problem in the mornings before work or during the night when you are trying to sleep.

(It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with a single pad that uses an oscillating motion that does a better job cleaning than the other mop cleaners for robots we've tested. It's also self-sufficient with a fully-featured app, and a self emptying base that is washable.

The iRobot application is designed to help you navigate a mapping run that collects data on your floorplan and any "no go" areas you've marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules or create the spot-cleaning. You can also use it to rank your most filthy areas for better performance. The app offers a variety of features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom mapping and advanced cleaning settings.
