It's therefore prone to get stuck on socks and shoes and could not navigate through rooms with a lot of people well during our tests. It also doesn't have a camera to see around corners.

With a sleek, circular design that looks more like a normal Roomba rather than the compact models this robot vacuum and mop combo is one of the most appealing looking in our tests. iRobot’s latest flagship model is also among its most advanced. It comes with advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection and future compatibility (another company’s robot that can wash mop pads autonomously).

It's the only robotic mop or vacuum mop cleaner robot that scored 100% in our testing thanks to a blend of high-tech sensors, which include cameras, a structured lighting system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that is fully self-refill and empty its base station, and it boasts its own self-cleaning mop pads.

Like other iRobot models like the X40 is easy to use, offering an intuitive mobile app interface and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, and Google Assistant. The only downside is that the X40 is still a noisy unit. This could be a concern in the mornings prior to work or in the evening when you are trying to sleep.

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop with many advanced features that let you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning device, similar to Ecovacs top-of-the-line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It comes with a multi-function dock that will automatically empty the vacuum's bin and refills the water tank, and cleans and drys mop pads.

The smart robot makes use of LIDAR and structured lighting to map out floor plans and detect obstacles. It can navigate more efficiently than its competitors with premium features.
