However unlike the i7+ or other top-rated robots we evaluated the i3+ doesn't have obstacle-avoidance capabilities which means it can get stuck on things such as power cords or socks, and it can have difficulty navigating across surface transitions, such as from hardwood to carpet.

iRobot suggests cleaning the area around the i3+ EVO vacuums prior to using it. This includes putting away any toys or other clutter it might come across. It's also recommended to keep the dust bin and filter clear so they do not become blocked by dirt. If the i3+ EVO's internal bin is full or its battery is empty, it returns to its docking station, automatically emptying its debris into the station's dust bin, and then continues cleaning where it began. Battery life is about an hour-and-a-half of continuous use. It takes 3 hours to charge.

2. Roomba by iRobot

The iRobot Roomba i7+ is the most powerful model in the iRobot flagship line and has the most up-to-date features. It's self-charging and self-navigating. the most important feature of all -- it has a self-emptying dustbin that eliminates one of the main sources of maintenance for any robot vacuum.

The Roomba i7+ is able to remember up to 10 floor plans and their names using Imprint Smart Mapping, a system that allows it to create maps of rooms so that it can clean them more efficiently. It also integrates with the iRobot Home app to let you schedule cleaning tasks and direct your robot by voice or via the app.

In our testing the i7+ performed more agile and faster than our second-placed model which was the eufy RoboVac G30, and it took large pieces of pet hair from all surface kinds including carpeting. Its biggest advantage over the eufy, though, is its self-emptying dustbin that eliminates a major cause of maintenance and lowers the cost of maintenance.

We were also impressed by the i7+'s compatibility with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services, which we used to instruct the robot to begin, stop or pause its cleaning session, move itself around the room and sweep a specific space. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ to these services. After being connected, to give voice commands to the i7+, such as "Hey Alexa vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home app also provides options to manage the i7+'s preferences and monitoring its performance.

3. Dyson Cyclone V10

This tiny Dyson model is an all-sports car that is amidst a sea of cordless vacuums that feel like minivans and buses. It's powerful and has features to replace a stand-up vacuum in the majority of households however, it can also fit perfectly next to the coffee table or shelves that you can spin around like an enchanted tool.

The V10 is powered by seven cells of energy-dense Lithium-ion batteries, which produces energy that lasts for 60 minutes. That's not to say this model doesn't have its advantages: It's lighter and agile than older cordless Dysons and its vacuuming performance is noticeably better on low-pile carpet.

4. iRobot Roomba 694"

The 694 is a standard robot vacuum that's a great choice for those who don't have a lot of money to invest in an expensive robot. It was able to remove all kinds of debris and sizes in our tests, and frequently went over the same area several times to give a thorough clean. The flat front of the unit allows it to reach into corners and along the walls' edges, which is a nice touch.

Its intelligent navigation system makes use of iAdapt technology to avoid obstacles and navigate your home.
