The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored excellently in our tests on bare floors They are also adept at cleaning dog hair. They do have some flaws however, which hinder them from being our first choice. One of the flaws of the Q5 is that its navigation system doesn't have AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's therefore prone to getting stuck on shoes and socks and couldn't navigate rooms with lots of people well in our tests. It also doesn't have a camera that can see around corners.

It's still a good value, especially if your office or home has a lot of bare floors and you want to save money. Plus, it's very quiet and can be used when you're at work or school. It doesn't have the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming offered in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective when it comes to mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes that don't stick well and isn't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 does have self-emptying docks, however. And, if you need to, you can swap the mopping pad for dry ones in just a few seconds.

2. iRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive vacuuming and mopping capabilities into a compact, sleek package. Its intelligent cleaning maps as well as fluid navigation make it simple to clean and effective in tackling larger particles such as pet hair. It also features a self-emptying dustbin as well as powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. This is a feature we haven't seen before on other robotic vacuum/mop combinations.

3. iRobot Roomba X40

With a sleek circular design that looks like a regular Roomba than the competitors' boxy units, this mop and robot vacuum is one of the most attractive looking models in our reviews. The newest model from iRobot happens to be its smartest and has advanced features like enhanced dirt detection technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can wash its own mop pads).

It's the only robotic vacuum/mop to score an exemplary 10/10 in our testing thanks to a blend of high-tech sensors, which include cameras, a structured lighting system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation on its own. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop mops.

The X40, like other iRobot products, is simple to operate. It comes with a simple mobile application interface, and it is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only real drawback is that it's loud, which can be a problem if you run it in the morning prior to work or at night as you try to fall asleep.

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop with a lot of advanced features that will let you get rid of your chores. Similar to Ecovacs the range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that takes care of both mopping and vacuuming. It comes with a multi-function dock that automatically empties the vacuum's trash bin, refills its water tank, washes and dries its mop pads.

The smart robot makes use of a combination of LIDAR and structured light to map out floor plans and identify obstacles, navigating more intelligently than its more expensive rivals. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time hazard detection however, it wasn't reliable in our tests and was occasionally confused by power cords or other obstructions.

The vacuum cleaner comes with a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to complete the task. For families with busy schedules, a recharge function and resume feature that permits your robot auto vacuum and mop to continue from where it left off could be very beneficial.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is a cleaner with more intelligence than you would think from its price. It has a great vacuuming performance, picking up 55% debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using one pad that has a reciprocating motion, which does a better job cleaning than the other mop cleaners for robots we've tried. It's also self-sufficient with a full-featured app and a self emptying, washable base.

The iRobot application is designed to guide you through the mapping process which collects information about your floorplan, as well as any "no go" areas that you have marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, or to create an automatic spot-clean. It can also be used to it to prioritize the most soiled areas for greater efficiency. The app offers a variety of features, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping and advanced cleaning settings.

Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuums that mop vacuums, meaning it can get to corners and underneath furniture better. It's good at vacuuming but is more prone to getting caught on low thresholds and is noisier than the other top robot vacuums we've tried. It also has a less user-friendly app and a tiny base station that isn't able to double as an emptying bin.
