She is a consultant in general adult psychiatry at the Home Treatment Team and a part of the North Essex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, which is part of the East of England Deanery.

Dr Bateman

Dr. Bateman has worked on various clinical research projects. These range from basic research using peptides labeled with stable isotopes and clinical research studies that focus on therapeutic and diagnostic biomarkers for Alzheimer's Disease. She is interested in ME/CFS, and is a Krewe du Sante member. The non-profit organization raises funds in New Orleans for medical research and educational programs.

In June 2016, a woman known as Miss Kelly spoke to an psychiatric community nurse she wanted suicide. She refused to be detained under the Mental Health Act but agreed to an assessment of her home treatment. However, the assessor was concerned that she could pose a danger to herself or others, and did not believe that she was competent to grant consent.

The assessor recommended that Miss Kelly be held against her will. Miss Kelly didn't want to be in a ward, so she contacted Dr Ramanathan Elayaperumal, her psychiatrist. He was a Consultant Psychiatrist within the Home Treatment Team at Essex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.

In response to this suggestion In response to this recommendation, the Home Treatment Team conducted a comprehensive assessment of Miss Kelly's condition of mind and current functioning. The review included a comprehensive medical history as well as a physical examination. It also involved a detailed assessment of the psychological and family therapy as well as a psychiatric diagnostic interview.

She also had an addiction history to drugs and domestic abuse. Stress, anxiety and depression caused her symptoms to worsen. She was also diagnosed as having bipolar affective and schizoaffective disorders.

Elayaperumal claims that Medtronic intentionally denied him a job due to his race and national origin. He claims that his poor performance review in June of 2000 as well as the decision not to grant him certain project assignments were motivated by racism. Medtronic has not provided any evidence to show that its decisions were based upon these elements. Furthermore, Elayaperumal's less-than-perfect performance review didn't result in any reduction in his salary or benefits, or even his the responsibilities he had.
