They also have a feature called carpet boost that boosts the robot's performance when it sees a lot of dirt on the carpet, allowing it clean quickly.

Both the Q5 as well as the Q7 Max Series get very high scores on our bare floor tests, and they're particularly adept at cleaning pet hair. They do have some flaws, however, that prevent them from being our top choice. One of the flaws of the Q5 is its navigation system does not have AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's therefore prone to get stuck on shoes and socks, and it couldn't navigate through rooms with a lot of people well in our tests. It doesn't also have a camera that can see around corners.

It's still a good value, especially if your office or home has a lot of bare flooring and you're looking to save money. It's also extremely quiet and can be used when you're at work or at school. It lacks the edge-to-edge bare floor vacuuming feature that's offered in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective when it comes to mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick very well and cannot handle dried-on debris. The Q5 has an auto-emptying dock, however. If you need to clean the mopping pad, it can be changed for an awe-inspiring one in a matter of just a few seconds.

2. IRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming capabilities into an elegant, compact package. Its quick navigation and smart cleaning maps make it quick to clean and efficient at dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also has an impressive suction system and an automatic vacuum and mop bin for emptying. It's the most efficient robot vacuums uk hoover for carpets, but it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mops utilizes sensors to avoid obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the layout of your home over time and ensure better cleaning. The app allows you to customize zones and change the cleaning schedule. Its battery life is average compared to similar models.

If the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can tell it to take off and extend its mops. This will help prevent cross contamination. Its flex arm can also be used to reach under furniture with low levels and along baseboards. It doesn't perform as well on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

During tests, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum cleaner vacuum/mop to complete the entire house with the battery at 66 percent left. It also did an excellent job cleaning a variety of rooms and floors with various flooring types, such as certain area carpets. Its obstacle detection was top-of-the-line and it was nimbly avoiding fake dog turds, socks, shoes, and bundles of cables.

It's a bit more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but it has superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empties into the base. It also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after it vacuums, a feature that we've not seen on other robot vacuum/mop combos.

3. IRobot Roomba X40

The robot vacuum and mop combination has a sleek, circular design that appears much like a Roomba model than the boxy models of the competitors. It is one of our most attractive looking robot vacuums. iRobot’s latest flagship model is also the most intelligent. It has advanced features such as Enhanced Dirt Detection and future compatibility (another company’s robot that can wash mop pads on its own).

It's the only robot vacuum/mop to score a perfect 10 in our testing due to a mix of high-tech sensors, including cameras, a structured lighting system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that can fully autonomously refill and empty its base station, and it has an the industry's highest suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop pads.

The X40 as with other iRobot products, is easy to use. It has a simple mobile app interface that is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only downside is that the X40 is still a loud unit. This could be a problem in mornings before work or in the evening when you are trying to sleep.

It's also a bit expensive, although it's not as expensive as Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 MaxV Ultra, both of which are similarly capable and more attractive. If you're willing to put up with a little more noise and some extra cost this is a capable two-in-one that should satisfy most people.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop with a lot of advanced features that let you forget about your chores. Like Ecovacs the range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that can take the care of mopping and vacuuming, with a multifunction dock that automatically emptys the vacuum's dustbin, refills its water tank, washes and dry the mop pads.

The smart robot makes use of LIDAR and structured lighting to create floor plans and detect obstacles. It can navigate more efficiently than its premium competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time hazard detection however, it wasn't 100% foolproof during our tests and was occasionally confused by power cords or other obstructions.

The vacuum cleaner has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to complete the task. It also has a feature known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the power of the vacuum and robots that vacuum And mop adjusts cleaning frequency for various areas of the house depending on how dirty the areas are.

If you have a bigger home, it is worth selecting a robot that comes with zones or spot cleaning modes. This allows you to inform the robot of which area of your home needs to be cleaned using the app or voice command. A stair mode can be useful if you have a large furniture. Finally a recharge and resume function that lets your robot vacuum pick up right where it left off is great for busy families.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is a robotic cleaner and mop with more intelligence than you would think from its price. It vacuums well and picked up 55% debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses with one pad, which uses a reciprocating motion, which cleans better than most of the other mop cleaners for robots we've tested. It's self-sufficient too, with a full-featured app and a self-emptying, washable base.

The well-designed iRobot app guides you through an initial mapping session that collects data about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you set on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, plan a spot clean or to prioritize your most filthy rooms to improve performance. The app offers a variety of features, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping and advanced cleaning settings.

Its shape is more rectangular than most other robot vacuums, meaning it can get to corners and under furniture more easily. It is equipped with an impressive 8000 Pascal suction as well as clever combs for removing pet hair. You can also create a spot-clean that thoroughly cleans a particular area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker, cheaper alternative to iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive design, similar to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed like cute little eyes. It does a great job vacuuming, but it is more likely to be caught on low thresholds. It is also noisier than other top robot vacuums we've tested. It also has an app that's not as intuitive and a small base station that does not double as a bin to empty.
