1. IRobot Roomba i3+ EVO

Both robots are adept at picking up surface dirt on floors and carpets and can maneuver around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates a smart maps of your home that help the i3+ navigate and clean up efficiently. However, unlike the i7+ and other top-rated robots that we test the i3+ doesn't have any obstacle-avoidance features, so it may be stuck on things like socks or power cords and may have issues traversing transitions across surfaces like hardwood to rug.

iRobot recommends that you tidy the area in which the i3+ EVO vacuums before using it. This includes putting away any toys or other items it may encounter. You should also keep the filters and dust bin clean to prevent them from getting blocked. If the i3+'s internal bin is empty or the battery is low it returns to the docking station and empties the dirt into the station's dust bin. Then it continues cleaning from where it left off. Battery life is about an hour and a half of continuous usage. It takes 3 hours to charge.

2. Roomba by iRobot

The iRobot i7+ is an excellent model from iRobot's flagship line, and it comes with the latest features. It's self-charging, self-navigating and -- the most important feature of all -- it has an auto-emptying dustbin, which eliminates one of the most important sources of maintenance for any robot vacuum.

The Roomba I7+ can map rooms more efficiently with Imprint Smart Mapping. It also integrates with the iRobot Home app to let you schedule cleaning jobs and control your robot using voice or through the app.

In our tests the i7+ performed faster and more maneuverable than our top choice and the eufy RoboVac G30, and it took large pieces of pet hair from all surfaces types, including carpeting. The biggest advantage over the Eufy is the self-emptying bin, which eliminates major sources of maintenance and reduces the cost of maintenance.

We were also awestruck by the i7+'s compatibility Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant AI services. We used these services to instruct the robot on how to start, stop, or pause cleaning sessions, as well as to move around the room and even vacuum a specific area. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ to these services. We were able, once connected, to voice commands to the i7+ for example "Hey Alexa vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home App also offers options to manage i7+ settings and monitoring the performance.

3. Dyson Cyclone V10

This tiny Dyson model is an athletic car in a sea of vacuums powered by cordless that resemble minivans and buses. It's got the power and features to replace a stand-up vacuum for many households however, it can also fit perfectly next to the table for a coffee or a bookshelf that you can spin around like a magic device.

The V10 is powered with a 7-cell energy-dense Lithium-ion battery that can provide power that is not fading for 60 minutes. Its sophisticated whole-machine filtration system removes allergens, and then releases clean air back into your home. Its cleaning robots for home head is specially designed and drives bristles of nylon that are stiff and deep into carpet to suck up large crumbs and fine dust. It comes with three suction modes that can be adapted to the task. It quickly switches from floor vac to handheld vacuum, and then back to floor.

This model has an attached dock that charges the Dyson to 100% within 3.5 hours. It also provides the ability to connect two attachments as well as the Wand. This is a huge improvement over the older Dysons, which take a long time to charge and are a pain to store.

The V10's main drawback is its limited run time. As CR's tests have shown, its claims to run up to 60 minutes are a bit misleading. This is a standard battery-powered cordless vacuum's run time. That's still enough run time to clean most of a home that's average size but not long enough to get every single spot (though a second run-through usually will suffice). This model has its own advantages, however: it's lighter and more maneuverable than earlier Dysons cordless models, and its vacuuming ability is significantly better on low-pile floor carpet.

4. iRobot Roomba 694

One of iRobot's most adored best robot vacuum for the money vacuums, the 694 is an affordable model that's a good choice for people who don't want to spend too much on a robot. It was able to remove all kinds of debris in our tests, and frequently went over the same area several times to ensure an efficient clean. The flat front of the unit allows it to reach into corners and along the walls' edges which is a nice addition.

Its navigation system is smart and uses iAdapt technology to avoid obstacles and guide you through your home. It's not equipped with the ability to map that is found in more advanced models, such as our Top Rated robot Vacuum picks, i3+EVO and j7+ Series. As a result, it is sometimes stuck on things like phone cords and furniture that isn't in good condition, and often will run out of battery before making it back to its home base.

The Xiaomi Mi robot vacuum is superior to the Roomba 694 in all aspects because it has fewer components that require regular maintenance and is equipped with an allergen-trapping HEPA filter, incurs lower recurring costs, has more advanced automation capabilities and is better at maneuvering itself. It also has a larger dustbin and charges faster.

The eufy RoboVac X8 has a superior battery life than the Roomba. It also has physical boundaries strips and can be controlled using your smartphone's voice assistance. It also feels better-built and has a stronger motor, and is able to perform better on floors that are bare and carpets with a low pile, as well as providing a greater variety of automation options.

5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+

The app allows you to steer the robot manually when needed. For instance, my living room rug has a darkly colored border that tends to trip up some of the other robots I've tested.
