12 Companies Leading The Way In Robot Hoover
The best robot vacuum cleaner and mop Robot Hoover
The best robot hoover can mop and vacuum without needing your attention, and it will leave your floors clean. Its price is surprisingly low and high-end features (such as dirt detection) are great features.
Be sure to inspect your robot's brushes for hair that is tangled as well as large debris, and wash them when required. Certain models also automatically empty the onboard dustbin and deposit it in a larger bin at the base. This reduces the amount fine dust that gets released into the air.
1. Roomba Q5 pro
The Q5 Pro and its sibling the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've test. They feature motors that are top-of-the class and can handle up to 5,500 Pascals. Like other premium iRobots (including the top model) they utilize intelligent mapping to design precise floorplans and avoid household obstacles like furniture legs. The robots also have the feature of Carpet Boost that increases its power when it detects dirt on the carpet.
The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored extremely well in our tests of floors with no carpet, and they are particularly adept in cleaning dog hair. They do have some flaws however, which prevent them from being our first choice. One of the flaws of the Q5 is that its navigation system does not feature AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's therefore prone to getting stuck on shoes and socks and couldn't navigate through rooms with a lot of people efficiently during our tests. It doesn't also come with a camera to look around corners.
It's still a good value for those whose home or office has a lot of bare floors and you're looking to save money. It's also very quiet and can be used when you're at work or going to school. The only thing it lacks that you can't find in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on floors that aren't clean. It's also less effective when it comes to mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes that don't stick very well and cannot handle dried-on debris. The Q5 is self-emptying cradle that can be emptied by itself. And, if you have to, you can switch the mopping pad for a dry one in seconds.
2. iRobot Roomba X30
The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming into a compact, sleek package. Its smart cleaning maps and nimble navigation make it easy to clean, and efficient in tackling larger particles such as pet hair. It also comes with self-emptying dustbins with powerful suction and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robotic hoover for carpets, but it's not as good as other hoovers in terms of deep cleaning.
This high-performance vacuum and mop uses sensors that help it keep away from obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the layout of your home over time and ensure cleaner and more efficient cleaning. You can alter its cleaning schedule and set up zones using the app that is well-designed. Its battery life is average in comparison to similar models.
You can instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mop and extend them when it's in a carpeted room which prevents cross-contamination. The flex arm can be used to reach under furniture with low levels and along baseboards. It's not as efficient on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
During tests during testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot hoover and mop vacuum/mop in the market to clean the entire house with the battery at 66 percent left. It also did a good job cleaning a variety of rooms and floors with various flooring types, such as certain area rugs. Its obstacle detection was superb and it stayed clear of fake dog turds, socks, shoes, and bundles of cables.
It's more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, but it has superior suction, an onboard dustbin that automatically fills up its base, and supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after vacuuming this feature, which we've not seen on other robotic vacuum/mop combos.
3. Roomba X40 from iRobot
This robot cleaner with mop vacuum and mop combination has a sleek, circular design that looks more like a regular Roomba model than the boxy models from the competition. It's among our most attractive looking robot vacuums. iRobot’s latest flagship model is also its smartest. It features advanced features, like enhanced dirt detection and future compatibility (another company's robot vacuums that mop that can wash mop pads on its own).
It's the only robotic mop or vacuum that has a perfect 10 in our evaluations, thanks to a combination of high-tech sensors, including a camera, structured light system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that can completely self-refill and empty its base station and it has an industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.
Like other iRobot models, the X40 is user-friendly, offering an intuitive mobile app interface as well as integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, and Google Assistant. The only downside is that the X40 is still a noisy unit. This could be a problem in the mornings before work, or at night when you're trying to fall asleep.
It's also a bit expensive, although it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra both of which are equally capable and look better. It's a dual-purpose vacuum that's extremely powerful however it's more expensive and produce more noise.
iRobot L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop with many advanced features that let you forget about your chores. Similar to Ecovacs range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that takes care of both mopping and vacuuming. It comes with a multi-function dock that automatically emptys the vacuum's dust bin, fills its water tank and washes and dries its mop pads.
The smart robot uses LIDAR and structured lighting to draw out floor plans and spot obstacles. It is more efficient in its navigation than its top competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards, though this wasn't foolproof in our tests and could be confused with obstructions or power cords.
Its vacuum cleaner has an maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to complete the task. It also features "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the amount of time the vacuum works and also alters the frequency of cleaning robot mop and vacuum for different areas of the home in accordance with how dirty they tend to be.
For larger houses it's recommended to choose models with zone or spot cleaning modes that let you tell the robot to clean one particular area of your house by using the app or voice controls. A stair mode can be useful if you have a large furniture. Also the recharge and resume function that allows your robot vacuum to continue where it left off is ideal for busy families.
5. iRobot Roomba RX3
The RX3 is more sophisticated than its price suggests. It has a great vacuuming performance, picking up 55% debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses using a single pad and a rotating motion that cleans better that most mop cleaners for robots that we've tried. It's also self-sufficient, with a fully-featured app as well as a self-emptying, washable base.
The iRobot app is designed to guide you through the mapping process, which gathers information on your floorplan and any "no go" areas you've marked on the map. You can use it to create cleaning schedules, set up a spot clean or to sort out your rooms with the most dirt for better performance. The app also grants access to a variety of features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.
Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuums, which means it can get to corners and underneath furniture more easily. It also has a strong suction of 8,000 Pascal suction and combs that are intelligent for hair of pets. You can also set up a spot-clean which will thoroughly clean an area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker and more affordable alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras appear like cute eyes. It's good at vacuuming, but it is more susceptible to get caught on low thresholds and is a bit louder than the other top robotic vacuums we've examined. It also has a less user-friendly app and a small base station that isn't able to double as an emptying bin.
