It's thus susceptible to become stuck on shoes and socks and could not navigate rooms with lots of people well in our tests. It also doesn't come with a camera to look around corners.

This mop and vacuum combination is sleek and has a circular look that looks much like a Roomba model than the boxy models of the competitors. It is one of our most attractive robot vacuums. The newest model from iRobot is its most advanced model, with features that are cutting-edge like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can wash its own mop pads).
It's also the only robot vacuum/mop that scored the perfect 10/10 out of 10 in our testing. This is thanks to a mix of modern sensors, including a restructured lighting system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot vacuum that vacuums and mops we tested that could refill and empty its basestation autonomously. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mops.
The X40, like other iRobot products, is easy to use. It has an easy mobile app interface that is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only drawback is that it's loud that could be an issue if you use it in the morning before work, or at night when you attempt to sleep.

It also has a front-mounted camera to detect hazards in real-time but this was not reliable in our tests and was occasionally confused by power cords or other obstructions.
Its vacuum has a high suction maximum of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to get the job done. It also has an option called "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts cleaning frequency for different areas of the house depending on how dirty those areas tend to be.
If you have a bigger home, it's worth selecting a model with a the option of cleaning zones or spots.
