The best robot hoover can mop and vacuum without needing your attention, and it will leave your floors spotless. Its price is surprisingly low and features that are high-end (such as dirt detection) are great features.

The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive cousin, the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums we have examined. They feature top-of-the-line motors that can produce up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Like other iRobots with premium features (including the top model), they use smart mapping to produce precise floor plans and eliminate household obstacles like furniture leg. They also come with a feature called carpet boost that boosts the robot's performance when it detects the presence of dirt on the carpet in order to get it cleaned quickly.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored excellently in our tests on bare floors and are especially adept in removing dog hair. However, they do have a few flaws that keep them from being our top pick. One of the weaknesses of the Q5 is its navigation system does not feature AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's also prone to get stuck on socks and shoes and could not navigate through rooms with a lot of people well in our tests. Also, it doesn't have an image sensor that lets it see the corners of a room.

It's still a great deal for those whose home or office has a lot of bare floors and you're looking to save money. Plus, it's very quiet and you can use it when you're at work or going to school. The only thing it lacks that you can't find in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming of floors with no floor. And it's less effective at mopping, as it relies on disposable wet wipes that don't stay on for long and don't take on dried-on debris. The Q5 does come with a self-emptying dock, though. If you're in need of it clean the mopping pad, it can be replaced with a wet one in just a few seconds.

2. IRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact elegant vacuum cleaner that can mop floors. Its nimble navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it simple to clean and efficient at taking on larger particles, such as pet hair. It also features a self-emptying dustbin as well as powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, though it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mop uses sensors that help it avoid obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the layout of your home over time and ensure cleaner and more efficient cleaning. You can change the schedule of cleaning and even customize zones with the well-designed app. Its battery life is average in comparison to other models.

When the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can tell it to pull back and extend its mop. This will help prevent cross contamination. During tests during testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop that could complete an entire home, and it did so with 66 percent of its battery left. It also did an excellent job of cleaning a mix of floors and rooms that had different flooring types, including some area rugs. Its obstacle detection was superb, and it avoided fake dog turds, socks, shoes and bundles cables.

It's a bit more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but it has superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empties into the base. It also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after it vacuums it, something hasn't been seen in other robot vacuum/mop combos.

3. iRobot Roomba X40

With an elegant circular design that appears like a regular Roomba rather than the boxy units this robot vacuum and mop combo is one of the most attractive looking models in our evaluations. The latest model from iRobot is also among its most advanced. It features advanced features, like Enhanced Dirt Detection and future compatibility (another company’s robot that can wash mop pads on its own).

It's the only robotic vacuum/mop that has 100% in our tests due to a mix of high-tech sensors, which include cameras, a structured lighting system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that can fully autonomously refill and empty its base station, and boasts an industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.

As with other iRobot models, the X40 is user-friendly, offering a simple mobile app interface and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit as well as Google Assistant. The only issue is that it's still quite an eerily noisy device that could be a problem if you run it in the morning before work, or at night when you attempt to sleep.

It's also quite expensive, though it's not as expensive as Ecovacs X2 Omni or the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra both of which are equally powerful and look better. If you're willing to put up some more volume and some extra cost, this is a very efficient two-in-one device that should satisfy most people.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot autonomous vacuum and mop with a lot of advanced features that let you get rid of your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning device that is similar to Ecovacs top-of-the-line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It comes with a multi-function dock that will automatically emptys the bin of the vacuum and fills up the water tank, and cleans and dries the mop pads.

The smart robot uses a combination of LIDAR and structured light to draw out the floor plan and detect obstacles, and navigates more effectively than its more expensive competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards, although this wasn't quite reliable in our tests and was occasionally confused by power cords or other obstructions.

Its vacuum has a high maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to complete the task. It also has an attribute called "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the home based on how dirty these areas are.

For larger houses it's recommended to choose models that has zone or spot cleaning modes that allow you to tell the robot to clean one particular area of your house using the app or voice controls. If you have furniture, a stair mode is also a good option. For families with busy schedules recharge functions and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to continue from where it left off could be very useful.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is more intelligent than the price suggests. It does a stellar job vacuuming, removing 55% of the debris that was found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with a single pad and a rotating motion that is more efficient than most mop cleaners for robots that vacuum and mop that we've tested. It's self-sufficient too, with a full-featured app and an auto-emptying, washable base.

The well-designed iRobot app will guide you through an initial mapping run that gathers information about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you have marked on the map. You can use it to make cleaning schedules, plan a spot clean or to sort out your rooms with the most dirt for better performance. The app also grants access to a host of features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.

It can also reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It also has a strong suction of 8,000 Pascal suction and combs with intelligent technology for pet hair. You can also set up a spot clean that intensely cleans a localized area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and cheaper alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive design, similar to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed to resemble cute little eyes. It is great at vacuuming, but it's more likely to get caught on low thresholds. It is also noisier than other top robot vacuums we have test. It also has a less intuitive app and a small base station that doesn't double as an emptying bin.
