The Best Robot Hoover
The best automatic vacuum robot hoover can vacuum and mop without needing your attention, and it will leave your floors spotless. Its price is surprisingly low and high-end features (such as dirt detection) are pluses.
Check your robot's brushes regularly for tangled debris as well as hair. Clean them as needed. Some models can also self-empty the onboard dust bin and place it in an additional bin at the bottom. This helps reduce the amount of fine dust that is released into the air.
1. Roomba Q5 pro
The Q5 Pro and its sibling, the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've examined. They have motors that are top of the quality and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. Like other premium iRobots (including the top model), they use smart mapping to produce precise floorplans and avoid household obstacles like cords and furniture leg. They also feature a feature called carpet boost which boosts the robot's power when it detects an abundance of dirt on the carpet, allowing it cleaned quickly.
The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored excellently in our tests of floors with no carpet and are especially adept at cleaning dog hair. However, they have some flaws that prevent them from being our top choice. One of the Q5's shortcomings is that its navigation system does not include AI-powered obstacle avoidance. It's therefore prone to become stuck on shoes and socks, and it couldn't navigate through rooms with a lot of people well during our tests. Also, it doesn't have a camera that would let it see the corners of the room.
However, it's a good choice for those who want to save money on a Roomba from iRobot, and you have a bare-floored home or office. It's also very quiet and can be used when you're at work or at school. The only thing it lacks that you can't find in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on floors that aren't clean. It's also less effective when it comes to mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick well and aren't able to deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 does come with a self-emptying dock, though. And, if you have to change the mopping pad for dry ones in a matter of seconds.
2. IRobot Roomba X30
The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact sleek and stylish vacuum cleaner that also has the ability to mop floors. Its nimble navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it quick to clean and efficient in taking on larger particles, such as pet hair. It also has a self-emptying bin with powerful suction and support for virtual boundaries. It's the most efficient robotic hoover for carpets but it falls behind some competitors in terms of deep cleaning.
This high-performance vacuum and mops utilizes sensors that help it keep away from obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the layout of your home over time to ensure better cleaning. The app allows you to modify zones and alter the cleaning schedule. Its battery life is average when compared to similar models.
When the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can instruct it to pull back and extend its mops. This will help prevent cross contamination. Its flex arm is also ideal to get under furniture with low levels and along baseboards. It's not as efficient on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
During testing, X30 Ultra was the most efficient robot vacuum/mop which could sweep the entire house and had 66 percent of its battery remaining. It also did a great job of cleaning a mix of rooms and floors with various flooring types, such as some area rugs. Its obstacle detection was top notch and it swiftly eluded fake dog socks, turds, shoes, and bundles of cables.
It's a bit more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but it has superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after vacuuming it, something we've not seen on other robotic vacuum/mop combos.
3. IRobot Roomba X40
This robot vacuum and mop combination features a sleek, circular design that looks more like the regular Roomba unit than the boxy models from the competition. It's among our most attractive robot vacuums. iRobot’s latest flagship model is also the most intelligent. It has advanced features like enhanced dirt detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that can wash mop pads autonomously).
It's also the only robotic vacuum/mop that scored an absolute 10 out of 10 in our tests. This is thanks to a combination high-tech sensors including a structured lighting system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation in a self-contained manner. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mops.
The X40 is, like the other iRobot products, is simple to use. It has an easy mobile app interface that integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only drawback is that it's still quite an eerily noisy device, which can be problematic if you run it in the morning before work or at night as you try to fall asleep.
It's also a bit expensive but not as expensive as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally powerful and more attractive. If you're willing some more volume and a little more cost it's a capable two-in-one that should delight most.
iRobot L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot automatic vacuum cleaner and mop and mop with a variety of sophisticated features that will let you forget about your chores. Similar to Ecovacs' range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that takes the care of mopping and vacuuming, with a multifunction dock that automatically empties the vacuum's dust bin, fills its water tank and cleans and dry its mop pads.
The smart robot vacuums that mop utilizes LIDAR and structured lighting to create floor plans and spot obstacles. It navigates more intelligently than its competitors with premium features. It also has a front-mounted camera for real-time hazard detection, although this wasn't quite reliable in our tests and was often confused by power cords or other obstructions.
Its vacuum has a suction maximum of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to get the job done. It also comes with "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates how hard the vacuum works and also alters the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the house depending on how dirty they are.
For larger houses, it's worth opting for models with zone or spot cleaning modes that allow you to tell the robot to clean one specific area of your home using the app or via voice commands. If you have lots of furniture, a stair mode is also a good option. For families with busy schedules, a recharge function and resume feature that allows your best robot hoover vacuum to resume where it left off could be very beneficial.
5. iRobot Roomba RX3
The RX3 is more intelligent than its price would suggest. It does a stellar job cleaning, removing 55% of debris in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using a single pad that uses a reciprocating motion that cleans better than most of the other robot mop cleaners we've tried. And it's highly self-sufficient with a fully-featured app as well as an auto vacuum and mop-emptying washable base.
The well-designed iRobot app will guide you through an initial mapping session that collects data about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you set on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules or set up a spot-clean. You can also use it to prioritize the most soiled areas for greater efficiency. The app offers a variety of features, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.
Its shape is more rectangular than most other robot vacuums, which means it is able to reach corners and underneath furniture more easily. It also has strong 8,000 Pascal suction and intelligent combs for pet hair. You can also set up a spot-clean that thoroughly cleans a specific area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and less expensive alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive design, similar to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed like adorable eyes. It is capable of vacuuming but is more prone to getting caught on low thresholds and is a bit noisier than the other top robot vacuums we've tested. It also has a less intuitive app and a small base station that can't be used as a bin for emptying.
