They do have some flaws however, which hinder them from being our top option. One of them is that the Q5's navigation doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance, so it's prone to getting hung up on shoes and socks and can't navigate rooms with a lot of people efficiently in our tests. It also doesn't have a camera to see around corners.
Still, it's very good to consider, particularly if you're looking to save money on an Roomba from iRobot and have a mostly bare-floor home or office. Additionally, it's quiet and you can use it when you're at work or at school. The only thing it's missing that you don't get in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on bare floors. It's also less effective in mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick well and aren't able to deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 does have self-emptying docks, however. If you're required to clean the mopping pad, it can be replaced with an awe-inspiring one in a matter of seconds.

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming into a sleek, compact package. Its intelligent cleaning maps and fluid navigation make it simple to clean, and effective in tackling larger particles, like pet hair. It's a bit more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, but it has superior suction, a dustbin on board that automatically fills up its base, and also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can also clean the floor even after it vacuums. This is something we haven't seen in other robotic automatic vacuum cleaner/mop combinations.
3. iRobot Roomba X40
This robot vacuum and mop combination has a sleek, circular design that appears much like a Roomba unit than the boxy models from the rivals. It's one of our most appealing looking robot vacuums. The latest flagship model from iRobot is also the most intelligent. It comes with advanced features, like Enhanced Dirt Detection and future compatibility (another company's robot vacuum cleaners uk that can wash mop pads on its own).
It's also the only robotic vacuum or mop that scored a perfect 10 out of 10 in our testing. This is due to a mix of modern sensors, including a restructured light system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that can completely self-refill and empty its base station, and it has an its own self-cleaning mop pads.
