They also come with a feature called carpet boost that boosts the robot's performance when it sees the presence of dirt on the carpet in order to get it cleaned quickly.
Both the Q5 as well as the Q7 Max Series get very high scores on our bare floor tests, and they're particularly adept in removing pet hair. However, they have several flaws that prevent them from being our top choice. One of the Q5's shortcomings is its navigation system does not have AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's therefore prone to getting stuck on shoes and socks and couldn't navigate densely packed rooms very well during our tests. It doesn't also have a camera to see around corners.
It's still a great deal, especially if your office or home has a lot of bare flooring and you're looking to save some money. Additionally, it's quiet and you can use it while you're at work or school. It's not equipped with the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming feature that's offered in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective at mopping, relying on disposable wet wipes that don't stay on well and aren't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 does come with a self-emptying dock, though. And, if you have to, you can switch the mopping pad for dry ones in a matter of seconds.
2. iRobot Roomba
The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive vacuuming and mopping capabilities into an elegant, compact package. Its intelligent cleaning maps and quick navigation make it easy to clean, and efficient in tackling larger particles such as pet hair. It also features a powerful suction and self-emptying bin. It's the best automatic vacuum robot hoover for carpets, but it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.
This high-performance vacuum and mops utilizes sensor technology that can stay clear of obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the layout of your home over time to provide more efficient cleaning. You can modify the schedule of cleaning and even customize zones with the well-designed app. It comes with a battery life that is similar to other models.
You can instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and extend them when it's in a carpeted room to prevent cross-contamination. Its flex arm is also perfect to get under furniture with low levels and along baseboards. It doesn't perform as well on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
In tests, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop that could complete the entire house with the battery at 66 percent left. It also did a great job cleaning a range of rooms and floors with mixed flooring types, including certain area rugs. Its obstacle detection was superb and it was able to avoid fake dog turds, socks, shoes and bundles of cables.
It's a bit more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but offers superior suction and an onboard bin that is automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after vacuuming this feature, which we haven't seen in other robotic vacuum/mop combos.
3. Roomba X40 from iRobot
With an elegant circular design that appears like a regular Roomba rather than the boxy units This robot vacuum and mop combo is one of the most appealing looking in our tests. iRobot’s latest flagship model is also the most intelligent. It features advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection and future compatibility (another company's robot vacuum cleaner that can wash mop pads autonomously).
It's the only robotic mop or vacuum to score an exemplary 10/10 in our testing thanks to a blend of high-tech sensors, including cameras, a structured lighting system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot cleaner with mop we tested that could fill and empty its basestation in a self-contained manner. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop mops.
Like other iRobot models as well, Best Robot Hoover the X40 is easy to use, offering an intuitive mobile app interface and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit and Google Assistant. The only downside is that the X40 is still a noisy unit. This can be a problem in the mornings before work or at night when you're trying to sleep.
It's also a bit costly but not as much as the Ecovacs S8 MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are equally impressive and attractive. If you're willing to put up with a bit more noise and a little more cost this is a efficient two-in-one device that should satisfy most people.
iRobot L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the best robot mop and vacuum. It has a number of features that are advanced and will help you forget your chores. Similar to Ecovacs range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that takes the care of mopping and vacuuming. It comes with a multi-function dock that automatically emptys the vacuum's dustbin, refills its water tank, and cleans and dry its mop pads.
The smart robot uses an array of LIDAR and structured light to create floor plans and spot obstacles, and navigates more effectively than its top rivals. It also comes with a front-mounted camera that can detect hazards in real-time but this wasn't completely foolproof in our tests, and was sometimes confused with power cords or obstructions.
Its vacuum has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to finish the job. It also comes with an attribute known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts cleaning frequency for various areas of the house depending on how dirty these areas tend to be.
For bigger homes it's recommended to choose one with spot or zone cleaning modes that allow you to instruct the robot to clean one particular area of your house by using the app or voice commands. A stairway mode is useful if you own a large furniture. Also, a recharge and resume function that lets your robot vacuum take over exactly where it left off is ideal for busy families.
iRobot RX3
The RX3 is more advanced than the price suggests. It is a great job vacuuming, removing 55% of the debris that was found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with one pad and a reciprocating motion that is more efficient than most mop cleaners for robots that we've examined. And it's highly self-sufficient with a fully-featured app as well as an auto-emptying, washable base.
The iRobot app is designed to help you navigate a mapping run, which gathers information on your floorplan as well as any "no go" areas that you have marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules or create an automatic spot-clean. You can also use it to prioritize the most soiled areas for better performance. The app also provides access to many features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.

It does a good job vacuuming but is more prone to be caught by low thresholds and is louder than the other top robotic vacuums we've examined. It also has a less user-friendly app and a tiny base station that can't be used as a bin for emptying.
