1. iRobot Roomba i3+ EVO
The i3+ EVO and its i3 EVO sibling, the i3 EVO, are identical robots that differ only in that the i3+ comes with self-emptying features. That makes the i3+ a good option for those who want an automated, hands-free cleaning experience, but aren't afraid of manually emptying their robot's dustbin when it is full.
Both robots are good in removing dirt and dust particles on hard floors and carpets and can maneuver around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software makes a smart maps of your home that help the i3+ navigate and clean efficiently. However, unlike the i7+ and other top Rated robot vacuum rated robots we test the i3+ does not have a feature for avoiding obstacles, so it may be stuck on things like socks or power cords and it can have difficulty navigating across surface transitions, such as from hardwood to carpet.
iRobot suggests that you clear areas where the i3+ EVO will vacuum prior to when you use it, and include getting rid of any toys or clutter it may encounter. It's also a good idea to keep the bin and filter clean so that they aren't clogged by dirt. When the i3+'s internal bin is full or its battery is low it goes back to its docking station, automatically empties its trash into the station's dust bin and continues cleaning the area where it began. The i3+ EVO's battery lasts for approximately an hour and a half of continuous use. It takes about three hours to fully recharge.
2. iRobot Roomba i7+
The iRobot i7+ is the top model in iRobot's flagship line and comes with the latest technology. It has self-charging and self-navigating. But the most significant feature is its self-emptying bin. This eliminates the need for regular maintenance.
The Roomba I7+ is able to better map rooms with Imprint Smart Mapping. It also works with the iRobot Home app to let you schedule cleaning tasks and control your robot using voice or through the app.
The i7+ is faster and more maneuverable in our tests compared to the eufy RoboVac G30. It also removed large pet hair pieces from all surfaces, including carpeting. Its greatest advantage over the Eufy is its self-emptying garbage bin, which removes major maintenance sources and lowers the cost of recurring maintenance.
We were also impressed by the i7+'s compatibility Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services that we used to instruct the robot to begin, stop or pause its cleaning sessions and move around the room and sweep an area. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ with these services. We were able, once connected, to voice commands to the i7+, like "Hey Alexa automatic vacuum cleaners the master bedroom." The iRobot Home App also offers options to manage i7+ settings and monitoring performance.
3. Dyson Cyclone V10
In a world full of vacuums with cords that look like minivans or buses, this tiny Dyson model feels like a sports car. It's powerful and has features to replace a stand-up vacuum in many households and can fit in well next to the coffee table or a bookshelf that you can spin around like a magic tool.
The V10 is powered with seven cells of energy-dense Lithium-ion batteries that produces power without fading for 60 minutes. The sophisticated whole-machine filter system captures allergens, and then lets cleaner air into your home. The cleaning head is specially designed to drive bristles of nylon that are stiff and deep into carpet to collect large particles and fine dust. It has three suction modes to meet the task at hand. It quickly switches from handheld to floor vacuum and back again.
This model also has an accessory dock that can charge to 100% in about 3.5 hours and provides easy access to two attachments as well as the wand clip. This is a significant improvement over older Dysons that require a long charge and are difficult to store.
The main drawback of the V10 is its sluggish run time. The tests conducted by CR show that its advertising claims of up to 60 minutes are not true. This is an average not an extraordinary time for the battery-powered cordless vacuum. It's still enough time to get rid of the majority of a home that's average size, but not quite long enough to clean every area (though the second time around usually can be effective). This model has its own advantages however: it's lighter and more maneuverable than older Dysons cordless models, and its vacuuming ability is noticeably superior on low-pile floor carpet.
4. iRobot Roomba 694
One of iRobot's most popular robot vacuums, the 694 is a basic model that's a good option for those who don't want to spend too much on a robot. It was able to pick up the majority of types of debris and sizes during our testing and often went over the same area multiple times for an extensive clean. The flat front of the unit allows to get into corners and along the edges of walls, which is a nice feature.
Its smart navigation system uses iAdapt to avoid obstacles and navigate your home, but it isn't equipped with the ability to map that comes with more sophisticated models such as our top choices, the i3+ EVO and j7+ series. It can get stuck on phone cords or furniture and often runs out of power before returning to its base.
The Xiaomi Mi robot vacuum is superior to the Roomba 694 in many ways in that it has fewer parts that require regular cleaning and is equipped with an allergen-trapping HEPA filter, incurs lower recurring costs, comes with more advanced automation capabilities and does a better job maneuvering itself. It also has a bigger dustbin, and charges more quickly.
The eufy RoboVac X8 has a superior battery longevity than the Roomba 694. It also has physical boundaries strips that can be controlled by your smartphone's voice assistance. It is also more robust, has a larger motor, and is more effective on low-pile and bare floors.

In our testing our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ excelled on hard floors and dealt with dog hair (on carpet) quite well, clearing up 86 percent of it. However, it wasn't particularly well in avoiding higher-up objects like cords or socks which was a disappointment. It's also more expensive than other models we've tested and this could be a deal breaker for some shoppers.
The app allows you to access the onboard camera of the smart vacuum. You can also set up live streaming from the robot vacuum sale's cleaning zone. This feature allows you to check in on pets or kids when you're away from home. The dustbin and the filter can be cleaned for an easy, quick clean-up. The Jet Bot AI+ also has a clean station that self-empties, which helps keep the robot's trash bin clean and maximizes suction power for each cleaning.
6. Black & Decker Robot Vacuum
Unlike other robotic vacuums, that are specifically designed for carpets and hard floors, Black and Decker robots are specifically designed for hard floors. The robots have an extra-wide cleaning path, and a dustbin that is 2X larger than the competition. This allows them to clean the area for longer. Additionally, they come with two side sweepers that clean around edges and corners. The POWERSERIES Extreme model also includes AutoSense technology, which can tell the presence of surface litter or embedded dirt and automatically adjusts its power level. It also comes with a smart app that lets you see the virtual map and manage the functions and schedules. You can also track the status of the vacuum and connect it to its dock for charging with the press of a single button. The app allows you to customize the LED lights on the top of the vacuum to determine where it is focused or if it has gotten stuck.
The application also allows you to steer the robot manually in the event of need. My living room rug for example has a dark-colored border which could cause a problem for other robots. However the HRV 425BL continued to move across the border without registering it as a cliff. The ability to program a weekly cleaning schedule for each week is a time-saving advantage.
