One of them is that the Q5's navigation system does not feature AI-powered obstacle avoidance technology, so it's prone to getting hung up on shoes and socks, and is unable to navigate rooms with a lot of people efficiently in our tests. Also, it doesn't have cameras that let it see the corners of an area.
It's still a good value particularly if your office or home has a lot of bare floors and you're looking to save money. It's also extremely quiet and operates when you're at work or at school. The only thing it doesn't have that you don't get in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming of floors with no floor. It's also less effective in mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick well and isn't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying cradle that can be emptied by itself. And, if you need to change the mopping pad for dry ones in a matter of minutes.
2. iRobot Roomba X30
The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive vacuuming and mopping capabilities into an elegant, compact package. Its agile navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it quick to clean and efficient in tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also has a self-emptying bin with powerful suction and support for virtual boundaries. It's the most efficient robot hoover for carpets, but it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.

3. iRobot Roomba X40
This mop and vacuum combination is sleek and has a circular design that looks more like a regular Roomba unit than the boxy models of the competition. It's one of our most appealing looking robot vacuums. iRobot's latest flagship model also is among the most intelligent, with advanced features including enhanced dirt detection technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can wash its own mop pads).
It's the only robot vacuum/mop that has an exemplary 10/10 in our evaluations, thanks to a combination of high-tech sensors that include cameras, a structured light system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that can fully autonomously refill and empty its base station, and it has an its own self-cleaning mop pads.
Like other iRobot models like the X40 is user-friendly, offering an easy mobile app interface and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit as well as Google Assistant. The only drawback is that it's loud, which can be a problem if you run it in the morning prior to work, or at night when you attempt to sleep.
It's also a bit expensive, but it's not as pricey as Ecovacs X2 Omni or the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra both of which are similarly capable and more attractive. If you're willing to live with a bit more noise and some additional cost, this is a very capable two-in-one that should please almost everyone.
4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with a lot of advanced features that let you get rid of your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaner that is similar to Ecovacs' top-of-the-range X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It has a multifunction dock which automatically emptys the bin of the vacuum and refills the water tank, and washes and dries mop pads.
The smart robot employs a combination of LIDAR and structured light to map out floor plans and identify obstacles, navigating more intelligently than its more expensive competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera to detect hazards in real-time but this was not reliable in our tests and was occasionally confused by power cords or Best Robot Hoover other obstructions.
Its vacuum mop cleaner robot has a high suction maximum of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to finish the job. It also comes with "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates how hard the vacuum works and alters the frequency of cleaning for different areas of your home according to the degree of dirt they are.
For bigger homes it's worth looking for a model that has zone or spot cleaning modes that let you tell the robot to clean a particular area of your home via the app or via voice commands. The RX3 is more advanced than its price would suggest. It does a stellar job cleaning, removing 55% of the debris that was found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using one pad that has a reciprocating motion that does a better job cleaning than the other mop cleaners for robots we've tested. It's self-sufficient too, with a fully-featured app as well as a self-emptying, washable base.
The well-designed iRobot app guides you through an initial mapping session that collects data about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you mark on the map. You can use it to create cleaning schedules, set up an area for cleaning or to prioritize your most filthy rooms for better performance.
